5 Tips for Crushing your Morning Routine

There’s likely at least one million blogs that are going to give you advice on how to crush your morning routine goals. But, if you’re reading this, you’re still looking for something that will help.

Unfortunately, it took me until I was 30 years old until I officially became a morning person. I say unfortunately, because for me, it was one of the things that I attempted to change in college and as a 20-something. It wasn’t until I was 30 that I realized that I needed to develop a new habitual system.

Goals don’t determine success. Habitual systems determine success.

You’re not going to change your routine without a habitual system. So set your goals, check out my tips below, create your system and crush your new morning routine. I want to hear about what helps and I hope you’ll share this with a friend.

Like the old parable says, the early bird gets the worm.. Chirp Chirp!

1. Blackout curtains are great for sleep, but they make it so difficult to get up when the sun does. I realized that if I could get some light in my face and break up the circadian rhythm, I’d hit the floor fiercely like the boss babe I had always dreamed of being. Having a  smart outlet is a GAME CHANGER. I have it scheduled for 4:45am and tied to my nightstand lamp. So every day, rain or shine, blackout curtain, or not, the light hits my face and I’m up and ready for the day!

2. I have about 15 minutes to grab something to eat and fuel up for the gym. My favorite pre-workout food is Better than Oats
There are days when I’m running out of time, warm it in a mug and grab it go. If you see me on Goodman road eating oatmeal at 5am, do not be alarmed.  I always find time to mix an Advocare Spark. https://www.advocare.com/16058082/store

3. So obviously, this was all leading up to the grand finale aka the workout! I’ve done a variety of workouts throughout the years… running, cycling, Les Mills, swimming.. you name it. If you have a kickboxing gym near you, go now! I get to the gym, wraps my hands, slip on my gloves and for the next 45 minutes, I’m solely focusing on hooks, jabs, and distressing. Even if I have the ultimate cheat meal that day, my mind is free and my body is strong.

4. At 6:35am, I’m usually walking back through the door and starting to think about work… cue the coffee. I recently upgraded my coffee pot after a couple of years and we are LOVING this Ninja. On the weekend, we’ll make ourselves cappuccinos, coffee martinis and fraps. I also love that it has it’s own specific brewing option for half a pot, and no K-Cups. Ladies, it’s 2019, we’re behind on taking care of our environment. On behalf of my future Carter babies, do not waste another day!

5. The last thing I do before getting ready for my day is take my vitamins. I’ll do another post about this later, because it’s a process of it’s own. Let’s just say I use a giant pill dispenser which works perfect for vitamins if you have quite a few on your list.
